Thoughts on diamonds on rolex

I went to an AD today and took a look at several watches- namely the Datejust (36mm) and Daytona. I couldn't help but notice how many watches they had on display that contained diamonds.

I have always felt that great watches are respected for the mechanical performance and never felt that they should be labeled as "jewelry".

Don't get me wrong- I respect and generally like gems (especially diamonds) but I would rather see them on my fiance's fingers or on a necklace/bracelet as opposed to on a watch.

What are your thoughts? I have to admit one thing- being an owner of a TT Sub (with blue face)- I noticed the Serti dial (slate) and it didn't look "that" bad!

Love my slate serti dial. The older serti dials have smaller diamonds
