Icon4 Organized robbery after last week's New York IWJG show.

This is from the email IWJG (International Watch and Jewelry Guild) sent to it's members. Some of you visit these shows when they're in town, so a word of caution.

"Following The International Watch and Jewelry Guild Show in New York City (October 26th, 2011), on the way to the airport, one of the attendees was robbed. His cab was forced off the road and blocked by assailants in two SUV’s. The window was smashed and his inventory stolen. Luckily no one was injured but that was a very real possibility.

Please remember there are opportunists everywhere and in every industry. There are some mean people in this world. Protect yourselves in every way possible. For Heaven’s sake, if attacked give them the merchandise. Merchandise can be replaced. Nothing can replace you!"

I have nothing to add. Be vigilant, people - bad guys are everywhere.

wow greg if these guys put their time to a positive use they could do some good instead of robbing hard working watch guys. Be careful all times are bad people need money and times are only getting worse.

Thanks Greg...

Let me add we prolly shouldn't have so much detail about our GTG's in the open part of the Forum, I mean, common, its right out in the open for any hoods to take advantage of.

The Meeting sub forum needs to have some secure measures implemented maybe...

How many times have we got posts about GTG's say "where, when, how many, and other details, like, "I'll be bringin some Tourbillion's" and choice gold pieces" - all that needs to be taken "off the page," and done in the background...

wow never even crossed my mind but you are 100% right we must keep the GTG absolutely private and only send info through PMs to pledge members perhaps only ? not sure how this will work but more precaution is nessessary.

Randy,

I've said that several times before, and I completely agree. Plus the very specific 'thanks' in the "Who's Who" just give crooks more ammo as well, they know who has what. Several of my recent buyers asked not to post anything specific, not even a name.

Makes sense to me, its one thing to sell in an open area, but to hv the buyer invite this very access point by acknowledging it is asking for it !

Maybe some of you guys may want to operate in the nice sanctity of the Bar ! [meh, too many fights, and broken teethys as it is]

It happens to jewelry sales people from time to time in Houston. They are followed and robbed.
