I got my Seiko shipped across from HK about 3/ 4 years ago for under £100
I enjoy wearing my beaters. Seiko, G-shock, Marathon; they all have their place in my collection. I love my Rolex but variety is the spice of life. Like you, I enjoy my Seiko 007. Here's mine.

I know lots of folks that wear there Rolex's all the time but I just can't wear a 12K Daytona knowing I'll be probably banging my wrist against something while working.
X1 - Except mine's a Citizen ProMaster Eco-Drive - check it out....
If I ever saw my Daytona slightly resemble this, I think you'd see a grown man....

My Swiss Elite and my Point Zero Illuminator both still feel and look great. The Swiss Elite has taken quite a beating over the last 6 years of my life. Being 9 and having a Stainless Steel watch, it took a lot of falls and bumps. Still ticks and looks good. It's a school watch now.

very used beater watch...

This seiko has seen lots of hours of wear, though it didn't hold up as well as the tag heuer...I had from the same period. The seiko glass shows condensation underneath the glass, the bezel is pretty faded, and the case is a scratch magnet...

The following picture of the Tag shows much better, and it has more time in the water, on mountains/bikes, etc...

I don't plan on putting my Sub16800 through the same outdoor activity, though I am guessing it would hold up better than the other two listed here...

Both Rolex and G Shocks are my beaters, for different occasions.

I take care of all my watches, Seikos and Citizens included, but I have given my Omegas to my kids, my sub and Panni's are my beaters in the sense of everyday wear and my AP, Lange, and JLC's are my 'business' or dress wear. I believe in wearing my good watches all the time and do not mind scratches. The only watch I baby is my rose gold Lange, the gold scratches so easily and it is such a beautiful watch.

My beaters:
- GMT IIC for desk diving, kids puking, etc.
- Explorer II on NATO for running, exercising, gym, sports.

I don't see a need or reason to shy away from putting these watches through their paces. Marathon, Hamilton, Seiko, etc. are fine brands that have their moments, but why set aside very hardy watches of a bit higher calibre when it isn't needed?

I don't have a beater I just wear my watches according to how I feel. I work with my hands in a workshop with hand tools and rotating machinery with my 1675 or speedie on without trouble. I only wear my Heuer 2447 on special occasions, because it feels more fragile than my other watches.

i guess one mans idea of a tough day isnt the same as another ,
if you deal in shares all day , then go and rough it up doing some horse ridding at the weekend , you may wear something different as a beater than if your a motor mechanic and go rock climbing at the weekend.
ive just bought a 90s omega dynamic as a tough daily , but if im in a real beater situation , and i use the i wont take my phone there ,,, as the guide . then i have a 20 dollar second hand gshock i put in my pocket.
