Icon13 Be careful of ardew (seller)

Andrew and I agreed to a deal today for his GMT that he listed for sale.

I sent him a PM within a minutes of it being listed stating I would take it.

He replied back that the watch was mine as long as I covered shipping which I agreed to. 1 hour later he sends me a PM saying that he is taking the watch back.
I asked for a simple explanation from him several times and he ignored me.

I understand that a seller has the right to not sell their item but I am a man of my word and if I make a deal I stick to it. Very shady in my opinion to make a deal then pull out and ignore someone.

Oh well maybe next time

Update: I see that he is now banned. I think it may have been a scam.

I purchased a GMT from Ardew (Andrew Dante). Andrew did everything he said he would do and was great to work with. I found Andrew to be a super polite gentlemen; typical of a mid-Westerner.

Why Ardew got banned is between him and the moderators.

I do not know why Andrew did not sell the watch to Matt. The seller did make the following comment in an email “Honestly, I felt safer selling to you with all your references.”

As stated, a seller has the right to not sell their item. It is not in the best of form or show the best discrimination to post a negative review of the seller: “Be careful of ardew”, based on his decision to not sell the watch to you. I understand your frustration as it has happened to me a number of times. However, as sellers, we understand how valuable our reputation is and should bear that in mind when positing about others.

While I agree in theory with George AB the fact remains that politeness costs nothing and after agreeing a deal with Matt a decent seller would have the decency AT LEAST to be honest and give a reason to why he backed out, if asked.

Buyers back all the time...i guess sellers are also entitled to....i understand Matt's point though.

It leaves a bitter/sour taste when you do all you have to to fulfill your side of obligations when the other party decides to back off with a b/s excuse or no excuse at all and after they have led you on for days and you have lost another buyer or another good deal in the event you are the buyer.

Usually it is sellers that are in Matt's position.

Interesting

Doesn't sound like a good reason to publically flog him
