Not a fan of AP, but if I "had" to get one, I'd probably go with the Diver |

Have you got a chance to try the Diver? It really wears wonderful for being quite a big watch.

Thomas sums it up pretty well..the devil (or beauty) is in the details that AP puts into their pieces..
Was not a big ROO Chrono fan but when the Diver came out, I went AP and hasn't looked back.

Seriously, Man! All around well executed. The bracelet is like nothing I've ever experienced before. It blings like a diamond in the right light because of the finishing on it. Crazy stuff. All this and I don't have to worry about PCL's like on my Daytona.

Re: the chrono movement, I will dig around and see if I was "seeing things"... I'm pretty certain about the crown and chrono pushers are misaligned due to the use of the piggyback movement, instead of a dedicated chrono movement though. |

Different caliber and overall thickness of the watch and bracelet. The 15202 comes with the caliber 2121 (same as in the 1972 model Ref. 5402) and the 15300 with the caliber 3120. The 15202 is thinner and sits lower on the wrist. The bracelet is also slightly different. Here's a picture of my ref. 5402SA (TT model) so you can appreciate the thickness of the case and bracelet.

I have admired AP from afar for quite some time. I spend a lot of money on watches (though all is relative) and have a fair share or IWC's, JLC's, Langes, and even a Panerai and Rolex or two. I just bought a white face 15300 and am wearing it now. I love the watch and the feel of the bracelet. I would love to have a 15202 and probably will soon. But I am very happy with the 15300, it is not as thin or as finished as the 15202 (got to love that rotor) but it is easily my most comfortable and striking watch (well maybe other than my RG Lange). I looked at the ROO and ROC models and while I like them, and do not have a small wrist, preferred the classic lines and size of the RO.
AP makes a great if expensive watch. I find them worth it, especially since no one will recognize it, at least in my part of the world. T |

I wished I would have known how much I love an AP much earlier in my collection. Could have saved so much money going through other brands just to get to it. The thing about AP is how many retail shops can you go and find it in the states? Not many authorized dealers at all so all I knew was Rolex. Then came Panerai and the fact that it was not sold in many places it made it all more intriguing since you have to study it harder from afar. I have always seen AP in the spread and web but could never understand why people love them so much. The more I read the more I liked and when I finally saw one in person and wrap that bad boy around my wrist....it was over. I find that it is very hard to truely take a pic of an AP ROO to capture it's true beauty. One would have to see it in the metal and try it on to understand before deciding if it is for you. Becareful and make sure you have enough funds in the bank before you do. The bug is worst then Rolex and Panerai IMHO.

I got my eyes on an AP 15300 Black/Blue at the moment. I really wish I pull the trigger when most pre-owned was going for 6.5k....

Eric, I would steer clear of the boutique Scuba models. They are scuba in name only. The diver has been designed for a purpose i.e diving and it exceeds ISO diving requirements.

Also the older ones have the folding clasp and the Diver has the tang buckle. Both are WR to 300m.

On the movement itself right below the date window on one of the bridges. Here's a pic/sketch of the movement.

But the LE's are still a Diver's watch in that meaning.
