Crazy LV bezel and insert price.
Story is I wanted to p/x my 16610 for a 16610LV, I arranged the deal with the company, they were giving me a very fair offer for my 16610 and I was also able to negotiate down the price they were wanting for the LV.
I was told the watch I was getting was a 10/10 watch, it was a couple of years older than mine but I was happy that the watch was in tip top shape. I received the watch on Sat, on opening the box the watch did indeed look very good, I took it over to a seat close to a window to inspect it more closely under better light. Right away I noticed a tiny bit of paint missing from the bezel insert, then I noticed little "dings" around the actual bezel where it meets the insert. These were very apparent under the right light. Being that I was sold a 10/10 watch I was a bit miffed, it was Sat and the guy i was dealing with was away for the weekend. But at least I had time to think things over. I was going to find out the price of the bezel and insert and try to get that knocked the negotiated price. Roll on today, I phoned my nearest AD, they coudln't give me a price for the replacement parts. I phoned another AD a couple of hours away, they had no problem giving me the prices, i'm glad I was sitting down when I was talking to him . LV bezel insert - £261 Insert + bezel - £393 16610 Black bezel for comparison £20 I was floored in disbelief. Anyway the company I bought the watch off were sympathetic to my plight and have offered to replace the bezel and insert for free (genuine Rolex parts of course) which was very good of them as I doubt i'd have got £393 knocked off the price. Anyone else had LV inserts quoted at this price? The first AD said they would have to send the watch off to Rolex for replacement parts, i'm not sure what the procedure was with the second AD. The guy at the AD said it was a crazy price for the LV insert as the 16610 was £20. |

I'd be careful wearing that watch, bezels and inserts always take the worst of it in everyday life

WOW - that's pretty "interesting". im surprised the supplier was advertising and selling it as 10/10. were they taking the p!ss?
would really love to see the watch as is to understand how it could be described and sold as 10/10 though. last time i heard the black bezel insert for the 16610 was £26... if you buy at RSC, then it should be fitted free of charge. the 16610LV bezel insert is "swap only" at the RSC - no idea what the price would be... but bear in mind that different AD has different mark up... but the price shouldnt vary too much. if the £261 quoted price was right... then that is def a crazy amount of £££... im sure some of our resident LV experts will share their opinions on this. congrats on the 16610LV. dont forget about the crystal - my wife has managed to put a chip on one edge of my 16610LV crystal. not much i can do until the service |

I've heard it has gone up recently, not sure about the exact price though.

The green insert is no dearer than the black, or at least it wasn't when I had one replaced at Bexley a few years ago, black, green, gmt bezels were all around the £30 mark...

No pictures i'm afraid, the watch was posted Royal Mail Special Delivery this afternoon. Besides my cameras' macro woudln't be that good. I'll post pics of the watch with replacement parts when I get it (hopefully at the end of this week).
The AD was adament those were the correct prices and that the LV bezel was a lot more expensive. I'd love to know what other ADs are quoting. I'd think seriously about buying an aftermarket green bezel and fitting it while safely storing away the original in case I wanted to resell at some point. This defeats the purpose of the aluminium insert imho, cheap and disposable if damaged. |

If that's the price for aluminum bezels I'd hate to know what ceramic bezels cost.

The prices on the LV insert has gone up from Rolex.
I think Jocke had a thread about this some time ago as well.

wait, so even when I send in my LV to RSC for them to "swap" the bezel, it would still cost that much (in US$)?!
