Went to an AD yesterday. Now i am thinking again.
Yesterday while out gift shopping for a friends birthday and meeting my mother in the afternoon she said she wanted to meet at this jewellery store and then carpool from there. Well bad idea i got there a bit early and perused the Rolexes. This AD used to be a friend of my late fathers and when i mentioned my name he lit up and showed me everything. He had the new 42 explorer in (wasn't a huge fan of it) And then he showed me the new two tone rose gold yachtmaster 2. Not going to lie at first i didn't like it but when i put it on my wrist and looked at the mirror it was stunning a little too rich for me right now. While i was trying it on one of his employees proceeded to polish my sub without even holding it just while it was lying on the tray bracelet scratching the back of the watch and everything. (sorry but it's a pet peve don't like people messing with my watch especially if they don't hold it properly) I then i asked him about discounts and if he had a Daytona white face in stock. He went into the back room and pulled one out. For me he offered me a discount which is around the price that the grey dealers here are offering although taxes would be fully paid on it as well in Canada. I told him i'll be back mid december to pick it up with cash.
Just when i thought i was content and instead focusing my resources on a new venture and other things i need to acquire i am looking at another watch! There goes 10,000. Is it just me or does rolex really take make it easier to justify buying one instead of something else. I mean if you get a deal you know the value is still there in the watch and it doesn't dive in price. Makes buying a new one much easier than a second hand one of something else. My brother is going to chastise me for buying another watch instead of booking the trip with him to costa rica. I shouldn't do it........ but definitely don't want a ceramic stainless daytona in a couple years it will be too similar to the subs colour scheme.

If it was me I would go to Costa Rica, I love that place and there will always be Daytona's around
Congratulations though, that is one great watch and a good companion to your sub |

I would prefer something with a bit more substance than the daytona something larger for a change however the value proposition keeps swaying me that way. And the fact that i feel right about having purchased it in Canada with all taxes paid and such. I travel a lot and like having the peace of mind that if customs ever asks i have legit proof of purchase with taxes paid.
I would like something other than rolex for a change an Offshore, JLC, IWC or even a Panerai. Does anyone have any wrist shots of the daytona on them from a 3rd person perspective. Wrist shots are deceiving they make the watches look large when in fact they look normal or small on the wrist. The yacht master 2 looked large when staring at it on the wrist but looked great from a 3rd person.
