Submariner Question

I was in my local AD today, and looked at a two tone Sub date with a "V" serial number. I see from the reference area of TRF that a "V" serial number coincides with a manufacturer date of 2008. The bezel had a name that led me to believe it was ceramic which I said to the salesman, and he indicated it was. However, with it apparently being made in 2008 is it something other than ceramic? When did Rolex start offering a ceramic bezel? The sticker price was $12,200.

Thanks, Robert

V is still being offered new on the market, especially gold and TT models.. If it is a reference 116613, it is ceramic; if it is 16613, it is not..

The first time a V serial was ever seen in the marketplace was in late 2008. That does not mean that every V serial Rolex was suddenly produced on that date.. Most letter prefix serials were produced through about 4 years, so new V's will likely still be seen next year too.

OK, good. It sounds like I just need to check the reference number as noted above. Thanks, Robert

You say it was priced at $12200. That is the current MSRP for the two tone ceramic sub, model # 116613.

I just bought a V series TT sub in blue, it is a "c". Im glad to hear they make them for a few years, I felt I bought a 3 year old watch! I couldn't complain, sticker was $12,200, I paid $9150

That equates to a 25% discount, which does sound good. Any opinions on what would constitute a good price on the new two tone sub date with ceramic bezel in today's market?
