What a shame. Saab had unique design. I almost bought one last year, but their quality just was disappointing.

In today's buy them then dump them auto mfr. madness, Saab lost control of its destiny. Once loose, they never had the capital to expand the product line profitably - and keep up the original quality standards.

I feel bad for Saab owners who now have lost resale value.

GM killed them, as they are prone to do. What was that SUV they had? It was just a warmed over Chevy Trailblazer.

A sad ending indeed. Growing up skiing in Vail, where they used to use Saabs as police cars, I fell in love with the car. We owned a few over the years and never had a problem. Their recent designs have been rather ugly IMO but I still hate seeing them go down in flames like this

Great cars myself owned 5 Saab's over the years first was a 1979 99 Turbo bright red with alloy wheels, quite a fast car in its day.Its sad but thats the way the car industry is going today, just a few companies owing several brands,all using the same floor pan and components just different names on the fronts.

I loved the SAAB coupes from the mid 80's, I think they were the 90 series??? They were so ugly they were beautiful. Sorta like the 60's VW bugs. Didn't like the newer designs.

I had 4 over the years, 2x96, 1x96l and 1x95, all the classic 'snub nose' designs. Very sad to see the brand go. The GM take over was the final nail.

I always liked SAABs. Think the new combi wagon is a nice car. Not sure I would buy one even at 40% off list. Who will honour the warranty on a new SAAB?

Sad, but expected. A brand that has declared profit one year in the last TWENTY just can't carry on...

Never been a big fan, but the latest 9-5 Aero looked pretty decent IMO.

There was talk of a Chinese company buying them, but GM rejected that. They could go the route of Rolls-Royce - sell their plant & equipment to one European company (VW), and their name & logo rights to another (BMW), and have someone clean up their cars and designs and attempt to restore their glory.

Chinese deal failed to buy just for $100 MIL .... so I doubt anyone else interested .....
