Internet Trolls
I've heard "trolls" discussed here and on other forums. I guess I am kind of fascinated from a physiological standpoint why they do what they do. Like, for example, why would someone knowingly post fake watches and make it seem like they have no idea. I guess is it some kind of desire to trick or something else. Thoughts?

A mild form of voyeuristic terrorism. Drop a bomb, figuratively, and watch the chaos that ensues...

TROLLS are common in the medical world.
They are just low lifes who like causing chaos. IT got so bad with the nurses at one local ER that they couldn't use the word Troll, so the started saying TRO 11. Hehehe Another ER name for these people is GOMER ( Get Out of My Emergency Room) Anyone who deals with the public for a living or who frequents places people talk are all subject to this....best thing is to just ignore and walk around!!!

Regarding internet trolls, I actually met one in person and it was very interesting. Backstory: I was part of another non-watch related forum, and actually was an admin for the site, so I had to deal with this individual on a disciplinary level. He was always cool with me when I was a "regluar" member, but the second I became a mod he turned. Now, he'd always been a pain in the ass to other mods, but I figured he'd cut me some slack since we were good in the past. Not so much. In the general discussion forum we saw each other's posts about being in Vegas at the same time, so we actually made arrangements to meet. The guy couldn't have been nicer. We bought each other drinks and enjoyed the other's company. Once we got back to cyber world....... same old jackass

People who are too boring/uninteresting/uneducated usually cannot garner a reaction in the real world, so they become keyboard commandos and try to get a rise out of people online. It's really that simple.

These pathetic creatures have such unfulfilled lives the only way they can confirm there sorry existence is by boasting continually about their achievements and their 'stuff they own or fantasy own or knocking the main forums themes like TRF Rolex watches, but mainly trying to get there so much needed attention. Most Bragger Trolls are socially inept, and disliked by everyone they come into contact with. With no friends and limited social outlets, they throw themselves into their work. Eventually this takes over their lives, resulting in a total imbalance between work and play. With little else to talk about except their job or business or how wonderful and great they are, they fill their conversations with tales of promotion, brokering hugely important business deals, their powerful contacts and most importantly the fantastic amount of stuff that they own,and how much its worth etc or they mostly own on fantasy island. Many of these sad individuals have reached perhaps middle age, with the best years behind them and little to look forward to. They cling to past glories, countlessly retelling the same sad stories over and over again. Unable to come to terms with the fact that people are living far more fulfilling lives than they are. They find solace in continually sometimes, reminding everyone of their material wealth, and perceived social status. Seemingly unaware that boasting of their amazing business acumen, or their 'stuff' or faults with stuff. Results in them being perceived as an even bigger A-h#le, they further isolate themselves from society with their pointless c~ck waving grandeur, and endless moaning of minuscule faults, and of repeat after repeat of pointless posting mainly on the same subject. Eventually these sad specimens are shunned by society altogether; and thats the way it should be. But in the late 90's a revolution took place that meant the natural order of things was disturbed. Now some of these revolting individuals trolls have found respite in the Internet, and can be found inhabiting message and forum boards. Here they can brag knock and troll, to their hearts content. Safe in the knowledge that they have a captive audience bound by the unwritten laws of etiquette, that stifles most other forums. But not on TRF, this is a fun place to hang out, with fine members, and thats the way we want it kept completely troll free. Now in this fertile environment the bragger or product knocker troll, thinks he has found acceptance at long last. Drunk on the heady fumes of their ill perceived Camaraderie, the ego inflates to enormous proportions. All negative comments are now met with an unerring sense of esteem and self righteousness. Spurned on with success, some of them even go on to design their own websites, mainly about themselves, and how wonderful and great they are,or think they are. Eventually the Bragger product knocker troll, no longer inhabits the realms of reality. He has become an entity so vile and detestable that his very essence makes people recoil and vomit, so lets keep TRF, the happy friendly fun place, and bragger, product Knocker, and completely troll free in 2012. I'm sure we all know, or knew at least one troll. No disrespect to anyone past or future on TRF.

maybe you mean 'psychological'? in any case, it's just immaturity, boredom. I think it's the modern day version of a prank phone call lol. one time as a kid I prank called the operator with a friend. totally stupid. a few minutes later, the operator CALLED BACK and had me scared out of my mind!! never did that again haha

You wouldn't believe some of the trolls we've had to deal with here However the most pernicious ones are those who for some reason 'weird out' after many months or years as good members
Anyway the main thing is not to let them get to you

I was called a troll on a car forum, once.
I changed a joke told in third person to first person, found it funnier that way. Well, a bunch of folks believed my "story" Then people came in and said it was not true but a joke. A day later I get a PM with a stern warning of my antics. I still found it funny, apologised, and was jumped on even harder. I have since given up on the site, too many dense people. Unlike here!

Some people look for attention and do not care whether it is positive or negative...as long as they get a reaction!!!
