Question about shades of Champaign Dials???
In searching around for Pres D/D, I noticed a few different shades of the Champaign dial...some are more gold like the color of the case and some are lighter. Are there specific names for the different shades or is this just a variation between years?
Thanks, Steve |

Hi Steve
Yes there are different shades of champagne dials. There is no variation between the years, you can still see the different shades today in the current models. About naming them, I just refer to the lighter shade dial as the "light champagne dial" and vice versa for the darker dial.

This is the "light champagne" dial (or that is what RSC Tokyo calls it). It generally appears gold, but can have a rose-like champagne look in certain light. I've had it a while; but yesterday, I dropped my Day-Date off at RSC Tokyo to get a new darker champagne dial with luminova filled bar/stick markers. I ordered the dial in May and it just arrived. You'll see this type of luminova dial on almost all new stick dial 118238 Day-Dates with the President bracelet.
I just decided after several months that though the light champagne is beautiful, I like the traditional champagne color best; though both shades of champagne look great. I quit flipping watches for a while. I'm into flipping dials now! |

I think what they are calling light champagne is actually silver. I have however noted different shades of the gold dials. I have a DD with the gold diamond dial and it is a little lighter than some. Also, dials will fade with sun and time. Good luck in your search, I just finished mine last week and found the DD I wanted with a factory diamond dial at the price I wanted. Let me know if you have any questions about my search.

Congrats Otto on the new dial, I'm looking forward to that.
I have the darker champagne dial on my DD. However, I can't update my dial to the new style with luminova stick markers as I have the older model 18238. |

Otto, by the way, that is dd of yours is stunning!!! I have gone back and forth on getting a silver diamond dial or a MOP diamond dial, and by looking at yours I am back to leaning towards a silver or one like you have!
