Icon4 Mission impossible 4 and Rolex!

For those who watched Mission impossible4 you will notice that all of Tom's team wearing Rolexes (Tom and the Analysis wearing SUB C LN, and the lady wearing a date-just you can tell from the jubilee) except the Nerd guy wearing a casio Gshock. So, do you think Rolex or their ADs pay those movie makers or actors to wear their watches in some movies such as this one???!!
Movies are all marketing attempts for brands?brands are source of income to the movie makers?

The movie clearly showed 10 branded items that i can think off right now, other than Burj Khalifa :p :
  1. Rolex
  2. Zenith
  3. BMW
  4. Range rover
  5. Vertu
  6. Iphone and Ipad
  7. Voss
  8. Burberry
  9. Casio
  10. Oakley

What are your thoughts?
P.S. this isn't pro/against branding, please don't be offended in anyway, just would like to hear your opinions

Tom is wearing a Tudor Heritage Chrono not a Rolex. There are multiple threads about it.

I watched him (Tom Cruise) from my bed swinging around the Burj Khalifa early one Friday morning being filmed by a helicopter just metres from the top. Next door neighbour took a pic and sold for $10k. Now if I was not so lazy the new watch would be well subsidised.

placing of products in movies, tv ,etc is all by design, marketing strategy. Product placement is a major way for brands to add to their marketing budget...Rolex is in the top three, if not #1 amongst watchmaker when it comes to spending on advertising...hence the price increases...surely you dont think all the price increases is to pay for the innovation and quality ? Im afraid its still the same watch but their marketing dept, including paying the ambassadors, has increased and is increasing...so someone has to pay....

I am pretty sure both Tom and Jeremy is wearing a Tudor heritage in the movie right?

Btw with regards to Advertisement...
Found this before in a magazine about watches in the airport before but forgot to look at the name of the magazine because I suddenly realize that I have a plane to catch ;)

Wow, so guys do you think we are in love with rolex because of our subconcious mind being targeted by marketing strategies? or do we love rolex for the brand itself?
are we victims of ads??

Admittedly we are all guilty of subliminal messages either hidden or in plain sight...you can't go anywhere, watch anything, listen to radio, etc without being bombarded with advertising, suggestions and branding...rolex just happens to be one of the brands...heck, I wanted a Tag, when I saw it on a movie character...never knew about it until I saw the actor wearing....so it must work!

But seriously though, did you guys even think of how much BMW paid MI4??? I really cannot imagine how much BMW paid them.. especially in that scene when he gets in the beamer and jumps off the parking garage and crashes with the airbags and is completely unhurt, and safe! LOL! I knew that would happen!

cruise is wearing a TUDOR heritage Chrono and Jeremy Renners character aka 'the analyzer' is wearing a 16610 sub

no one really thinks a secret agent would actually wear a sub with a ceramic bezel do you?

anyways watch-id.com is a great site to see what watches are in what movies worn by what celebrities

Based on the ads and billboards you see in my area I would have assumed it would have gone more like:

1) Rolex
2) Breitling
3) TAG
792) Bulova

I saw it on IMAX, and at the time I was sure that Jeremy Renner was wearing a 116610. On the huge screen, it really looked like the sub-C. Take a look at the pic in the following link, I think the hour indices and lugs tell the tale - it's a sub-C.

The indices on the dial make it appear to be a maxi-dial ... but the lugs are from the 16610. I saw another shot on a forum here or there that showed it with the old style clasp of the 16610.

Who knows, though. They could've used more than one watch in the shoot.

imho rolex created a halo for itself by their ads, ambassadors, word of mouth marketing, using the right crown logo that refers to the highest class and social level and other marketing tools that we might be unaware of. So, even at earlier age we looked up to this watch, and kept in mind that a person who wears a rolex is superior or famous in a way or other.
again i am not underestimating this brand or trying to convince you not to like it. on the contrary i respect this brand for even this achievement of great marketing and creating this much value for their product, evil but genious. but the only thing i hate is having them suck my hard earned money :-P
