I'm looking for a new watch... GMT II, 2 tone sub, or yacht master and wondered how the polish holds up on the center links....

Mine have held up real well after a couple of years. Just a little bit of desk driving swirls however I do have more than just one watch.

They do fine, I think it depends a bit on what you do, but remember you can have them polished whenever you get them serviced.

They obviouslly show more wear than a traditional Oyster bracelet, but looks super sharp

i wear my GMT IIC every day. mine are kind of scratched up.... it bothered me at first, but now i look at it as character!

My daytona is 2 years old this year. The clasp took the most damage, as it looks almost brushed at this point. The bracelete has help up just fine, some minor hair lines here and there. It bothered me at first, but now I am so used to it that I barely notice the scratches.

Thanks guys, I sit at a desk a lot, bit wear short sleeves.... I really the look of the polished, now just need to figure what watch...... I checked my money tree this morning, and it still hasn't sprouted or I'd buy them all..... :-).

The polished is nice and it adds a bit of flash to the watch. I agree that the clasp gets sratched up fast! Mine will look brushed in the middle in no time.

I'm sure it all depends on how hard you are on a watch...if you like the watch and have the money then by all means.....go for it!!!

Ive had my Daytona since November and I only wear it with long sleeve shirts to work. I will NEVER buy another watch with any type of polished SS on it again. Its very blingy which is nice if you want it to be seen from across the room but omg does it scratch easily. My clasp is fully scuffed up and its frustrating because I take extremely good care of my watches.

YMMV.

That was kind of what I was thinking hyper...I have a sport band one now that is my daily wearer. I like the bling factor of the polish....

Unless you have really deep scratches Cape Cod polishing Cloths easily clean up the light PCL scratches to,like new condition.

I had a GMT IIc and it was a scratch magnet ... also the reason I didn't buy a SS Daytona. I just don't like the look either, but for those that do, I respect them. Just not for me.

Tape off the brushed surfaces and hit the PCLs with simichrome metal polish. Use QTips to clean between the links. Easy and effective.

Unless you are very hard on your watches, you can keep your pcls looking good by doing a light polish a couple times a year with cape cod or similar. I'm talking about hand polishing, no machines, which is fine a couple times a year or so.

The brushed surfaces still have the scratches. U just don't notice it as well.

I do not care for PCLs - scratch magnets.

I would save time and attraction and get a green ScotchBrite pad and make them brushed.

Why even wear them and risk scratches. It is best to leave them in the safe with stickers on and avoid all and any possibility of scratches. Better safe(in the safe) than sorry!

I've worn my SS/platinum Yachtmaster almost daily for nearly 11 years. I keep the watch clean. If I hold my watch up to my face to inspect it, I will see numerous scratches on the PCL. But, if I put my hands down, such as to type, write, etc. I can't see anything, and the polish still looks great. To me that means that I don't think anyone else can see the scratches.

The Yachtmaster is a durable watch, so if you just keep it clean even though the PCL will accumulate scratches, they are noticeable only up very close.

Honestly, no matter how badly scratched the PCLs get, in regular use walking around, no one will notice those scratches except you

The clasp gets the largest amount of scratches, but the good news is that when the watch is worn, it is the least visible part

Small price to pay for the beauty of PCLs IMO. So go for it if you like it!
