Nice post and info.....some of the most exciting stuff is missing at end. Tudor has to update with Basel 2012.

Just bought my first Tudor. A really mint 2000 Tiger chrono. A great addition to my Rolex's.

Looking at getting my first tudor (or rolex for that matter!). Looking at a Heritage Chrono/Black Bay or Pelagos . I'm visiting Paris and Gibraltar soon so hopefully will decide in the flesh.

Could anyone explain where the Prince Date Chronograph "Tiger" fits into the history compared to the "big block" Chrono.

The references after the Big Blocks were 792XX and later the 792XXP [for polished lugs]. They date from the late 90's to at least the mid 2000's. The Tiger additions lasted approximately from 2000 to 2004[?].

Thanks , what is the actual difference? Were they on the market at the same time?

The Big Blocks had flat walled cases like the Sub, GMT, and SD. The 792XX series had curved walled modern design like the Daytona.
No, each was on the market separately, the Big Bock, then the 792XX and finally the 792XXP.

Thanks again! Did the "tiger" versions always come with a leather strap? Anything to look for or avoid when looking at buying one?

No, leather, Oyster, or Tudor jubilee. Just regular due diligence.
