Time left on Milgauss ?
I am new to the forums so let me start off by saying hello, I purchased my first Rolex a couple weeks ago in Hawaii, Milgauss GV and I love it. I'm a welding inspector on pipelines so with as much magnetized pipe as there is out there I felt it was a double win (looks and usefullness) I have read about the Milgauss history but am curious as to how long Rolex will produce them this time around. I know this is a random question but figured i would ask either way. Thanks

Welcome. Your GV is quite a popular Rolex watch. I presume they will keep producing this model for many years.

Nice to see someone using the piece as intended.
As already mentioned, only Rolex knows for certain but it seems popular, at least with many here. If this is a question of longevity and parts availability of your watch, Rolex is rumored to have parts for service for 30yrs AFTER a model is discontinued. But only Rolex knows if they can service or not if that time comes based on parts availability...so it could be 40yrs+. Assuming they couldn't work on your watch 30yrs after it had been discontinued there will undoubtedly be a handful of compteant watchmakers around that could work on the piece. Enjoy your watch and welcome! |

all depends on demand, and demand is strong from what my local AD's tell me.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the GV! I don't think that it will be discontinued anytime soon altho some say that the Milgauss line come in bursts(like 5 years run for the first one I believe)and when this one gets discontinued, we'll have even bigger smiles on our face. I have the white one and I'm mesmerized with it every single day! Enjoy your watch!

Welcome! Only Mr. Rolex knows that question. If they brought it back, that's a good sign, right.

I'm getting ready to brush my white milgauss, probably leave the side of the bracelet polished and the side of the case polished, just brush the PCL and the lugs

Congrats on the GV! That is the most popular Milgauss and I don't think this line would be discontinued so quickly. If so, even better for us!

Congrats on your GV, and hope you had a nice time in Hawaii...I think I'll give my Sub a break and wear my GV today - just because of your posting. I love to give it a wind, a shake, hack the lightning bolt, and set the time. BTW both my Sub and GV winding are buttery smooth.

Thanks for the Warm welcome !!!
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Lots of good info and help with my question. As for pics I plan on posting a few. At work and away. I am curious as to what would happen if lets say i set my watch against a joint of pipe that has enough magnetism to stick a 4 lb hammer to lol i plan on checking the Gauss reading before hand of course. The only thing i have to worry about at work is spatter from welders burning rods hitting the crystal.
