I can't really see the scratches in thosepictures, howeever here are a couple of threads with regards to the use of diamond paste that maybe of some help:

I really don't think you hand hurt anything. Be sure to take of the insert/bezel .

I taped off the watch as well just to be safe. A local jeweler could buff it as well for a lot less than $240.

Try it for $30.00 bucks or go pay a jeweler.
