18kt president band repair

I have 18kt president w/ clip lock that is worn/streched fairly bad. In fact one of the end links wore thru letting the watch fall off my wrist. Does anyone know the brocedure to repair/remove the slack;? are link ends drilled out and over size spring pins inserted, or what. I have been reading about MY and am concerned about sending to HK for a quote. Any ideas as to what a questimate of his cost based on some of the members past expierence. Thanks

Don't worry anything about Michael Young. He's a lousy communicator but a hell of a craftsman.
We's known all over the world for his quality and I even think a large % of all "perfect" vintage bracelets delivered with mint heads have passed his hands.

What Jack said. As for cost, MY is a heck of a lot cheaper than replacing the bracelet unless you can find a good condition one used.

See my reply on the other thread about MY. He charged my dad $850 and it came back like new. He also said it may cost $100-200 additional if he needed to fill badly worn links with gold but he didn't charge us anything extra. I do believe he uses larger pins to take the slack out of moderately worn links and fills/ redrills those that are REALY worn.

Plan on at least 12 weeks and yes, it may take a few days for him to reply to an email but his work was great especially when compared to the $5000 replacement cost of a new bracelet.

Good luck.
