Gold and stretched bracelet

Hey guys -

Between the new composition of WG and RG (and YG) - do they still have the bracelet stretch phenomenon or are they more hardy considering that they have platinum or palladium alloys mixed?

Btw, what is the composition of the Everose and the WG?

Bracelet wear (what causes the appearance of stretch) won't be different.

White Gold (18K)
Gold
Palladium
Maybe some Platinum

Everose Gold (18K)
Gold
Platinum
Copper
Maybe some Platinum and Silver

And is it more resistant given the oyster bracelet and solid center links vs the jubilee bracelets of DD of old?

Yes. There is someone on here, I think his name is Michael Young and it's expensive and takes about 2-4 months. Oyster bracelets have less links so less "stretch" than jubilee. My mother replaced her jubilee in 08 after 23 years. It was 3x or so the actual cost of the watch when it was new. I don't know that SEL really does much of anything to prevent wear. Best bet is keep it clean and the grit out of it and it will last much longer.

Michael is cheap compared to replacment cost. $800-1000 for a typical repair verses $3500-5000+ to replace so well worth it in my opinion.

I had no idea a repair was even a option let alone for under a $1000.

he did a bracelet for me , long story short ,,, it may as well have been new , first class workmanship.

Lots of posts about Michael and yes he is slow and not a great communicator but his work is top notch. He did my dad's day-date last fall and it looks like new with no stretch at all. Cost $800 and was in pretty bad shape before the refurb.

Unfortunately I would agree new bracelet or old it it is not kept clean will wear over time... This being said if you do keep it clean I would think it would last for years and years with regular wear and little/no issues

My mother in law had horrible "stretch" in her early-80s gold DJ (jubilee band). The watch stopped working so she sent it back to the Rolex RSC. They fixed the watch, and they offered to sell her a replacement band. But, even the replacement band was really expensive (about $10K, I think), so she declined. When she got it back I could not believe how thin the now-cleaned up band was. It pretty much completely collapsed. Now, she refuses to wear the watch altogether, whereas she had worn it essentially daily for more than 25 years.
