What is the Clear Coating Over the Pearl Made of?

Experts chim in PLS!

What is the Clear Coating Over the Pearl Made of? The one Pearl that is on classic Submariner bezel insert.

My Chinese friend told me that clear coating is made of a tiny chunk of sapphire crystal. Some on other forums said it's epoxy. My Swiss friend said it's RC Tritec UV820 - a sort of better form epoxy. Which one is true?

Thx!

I could be wrong but I believe I read it's sapphire just like the crystal.

Well, if it is indeed epoxy, I'm sure Rolex calls it Rolepoxium or similar. :)

Hmm...I always thought that was the fast beathing and dizziness we experience when the UPS/FedEx truck pulls up in the driveway - when we are expecting a special delivery. Oh well - live and learn.
