leaving the watch dial up at night to run faster

i have read that if you leave your watch in a dial up position at night it will run faster.....i tried this last night and it didnt make any difference that i could see, how long does this effect take to notice

With the newer 3 series of movements it will not make a lot of difference know matter how you rest your watch.But flat dial up you might gain perhaps a second or so, vertical crown up,or down to loose a second or so.

I get my my fastest at 12 o'clock down on my 14060M's movement.

As Padi has said the later movements are not affected much by position and this is what makes the Rolex movements so precise.

X2. I personally don't worry about a few seconds. IMHO not worrying about a few sec a day.

Padi why is this so? What is different with those movements thank you.

Mainly because of the beat rate the older 15XX series movement ran at 18000BPH and 19800 BPH the 3xxx series movements run at 28800 BPH.But both 15XX series and the 3XXX series can be as accurate as each other.

I was try it many times, seems nothing happened.

been doing this for a week now, every night dial up and i have "caught up" 2 seconds

Mine always spends the night in a "dial up" position and gains a second or so a day. I'll now try a few different positions to see if I can improve accuracy. And if I can, I may even take the watch off when I go to bed....
