Best Rolex Book

What is the best Rolex book out there to learn more and read more on all the different vintage models? Thanks for the advice.

I have a few ones and Mondani is the best ones. I was a little disappointed when I've got The Submariner Story
because that was a limited edition from the start and they was sold out. Then they start print more of those book
and that is not the right thing to do when you have sold it as a limited edition.

If it's worth it or not it's up to the buyer, you can get a watch for a few $'s too.

This is the one I have.

I'm no vintage expert, but then again you may have gotten more responses in regards to vintage in the vintage sub forum.

Very true (up to the buyer) statement, however, that sucks when a publisher labels something as limited edition then produces more copies! The classic smoke and mirrors story!

Thanks for the heads up Dan. Sounds like a book I will have to view one day!

My question has always been:

Can you use the Mondani books as a reference books for various dials and references, or just a book with real great photos of a number of different Rolex watches?

Of course they have a number of different Rolex books so this could vary depending on the book.

If your an apple user there's a book app called 100 Years of Rolex that list all the vintage models plus respective back stories, up to current ones. Has a neat feature of fetching current/used values via 3G built in.

Very true. To be honest Dan and not to take away from the OP's question the other Rolex books I have picked up along the way have all been used as research materials. I have never spent more than $100 for any of them so spending $800 for a Modani book would be steep, however, as the other gents above have mentioned it appears to be the cream of the crop in terms of pictures. I would certainly love to view one nonetheless

The APP is ok, leave much to be desired though... Thanks for bringing to other members attentions

i was pretty disappointed with that app - the pics are not even consistent (i.e. you dont get a front-on view of all the models, necessarily - or all the variants)...

my search function does not even work on it

Pretty Damn Good Book! I also own the Patrizzi pocket expert for Manual Wind Daytonas. That was the best $30 I ever spent, but it took a month to arrive. Now all I need is my Big Red 6263 to go with it.

i'd been after one of these for sometime but not for the RRP, too much (the new Daytona version even higher)...managed to get mine New for approx $500/£350 all in from an Italian seller on ebay. the book is HUGE & weighs several kilos but the quality of the photography is sublime with brief but enough text in both Eng / Italian.. I'm with Jocke on the Ltd Ed rip off scenario, basically reprinted a further 500 copies in a deluxe slipcase with signed front page by the author for a few more €€€$$$£££

Looks like a great book Chad, and it sounds like you got a pretty good deal.
