You don't. You WILL break it and end up with a $1200-1500 repair bill. Only Rolex can remove them.

A special tool is needed to remove these bezels..
It needs to be lifted evenly from all sides simultaneously so as not to twist/flex the insert!! Without this, I wouldn't even try as you may end up with a cracked ceramic.!

You can do it with a buck knife no problem. Just be sure to tape your lugs off with blue painters tape then use duct tape over that. Pry it off with the knife. To reinstall use a plastic bottle the same size as your bezel to press it in. Cut the bottom off the plastic bottle so when you press down on the bezel you will not be touching the sapphire crystal. Rolex just wants us to believe we need them to do such an easy task.

Every video I've seen was for the old aluminum insert. I don't think the new one pops on and off like the old one.

Don't do it!

It's okay if it works, but very expensive if it doesn't.

Maybe you can practice on a friend's watch.

I just smack it against a rock a few times, then scrape out the pieces. The new one always looks clean and shiny!

You do have to do it carefully or you'll smash the crystal too.

Some people prefer soap and warm water with a soft toothbrush. ... go figure.

Yes agree with the sad part the only time a ceramic inserts needs removing is at normal routine service time. And its the same for the aluminium bezels all any Rolex watch needs is a wash and a good rinse say once a week in plain old soap and water its that simple. While removing the bezel with the aluminium insert is quite a simple task and very cheap to replace if you did damage the insert.Afraid with the ceramic bezel and insert its a much more complicated procedure with the use of the correct tools.Plus the extra factor if you did DIY and damaged the insert, it would cost you almost two arms and a leg to replace it.

To add one thing to this thread:

The bezel on all newer style Rolexes are held in place by a synthetic ring (plastic), that should be replaced everytime the bezel is removed. It may be possible to reuse, but I wouldn't trust it.

This applies to all ceramic bezel watches, and also the newer Datejusts.

On the older models it is much easier to remove and put back the bezel.

Best,

A
