I planned on not returning here after my last post because this was heading in the wrong direction (I started to feel like a criminal by just posting here). Glad I decided to check back. Thanks for the kind words and helpful advice everyone. I just wanted to let everyone know that I was planning to go to a AD when I had some time. That's the main reason for this post, I don't want to go in there uneducated and get taken advantage of. I want to walk into the place knowing everything about my watch.
For all the people saying something about a scam. I have a simple question. How can someone asking for info about something possibly be a scam? I'm not trying to sell or buy anything here. To Rolexsport: I do not have any pics of my G. I can take some right now if you want but its in winter mode right now (stock). I'm gonna fix it up soon for summer and if I'm still around here I will PM you some pics. I have a sedan btw. |

We can probably tell you a lot about your watch.. but not from a single picture or two..
You need to provide us with the numbers that are inscribed between the lugs on both sides of the case under the bracelet.. these numbers will help us determine it's age, movement, model, and give you some history.. We need much better photos to make any sure authenticity claims. I would be surprised if it was platinum, but good photos of the hallmarks stamped on the back of the case and bracelet will tell us exactly what it is made of... or even the winding crown.. The Day Date was introduced in 1956 and is always solid gold (or platinum today). It is the flagship of the Rolex line and there are hundreds of thousands of them out there....

Ok, I went to a small watch store to have them remove the band so i can get the numbers. The number at 12-o-clock is 1804. The numbers by 6-o-clock is 37001XX. Left the last two out of serial for security reasons.

According to the serial number you`ve posted your watch dates to either 1957 or 1973 and the number 1804 identifies it as a platinum DayDate.

I did some more research and I think 1973 is the correct date for your watch so forget about my earlier post. |
