Considering first AP, looking for help and guidance
hi TRF,
Just joined and this is my first post about wanting to buy a watch. I currently have a Subc, breitling superocean x-plus, and a Tag Grand Carrera. I have recently been seriously considering buying an AP watch which i can finally afford and was looking for some input. I am mostly looking to buy either a volcano or a bumble bee, and looking to buy either in mint condition. I was recently in the diamond district in NYC with my watch guy and he said didnt have any used bumble bees but it was probably going to be around $21,500 but he had a volcano in mint condition 6 months old with box and papers he could give me for 15,500. Any input on price or buying a used AP would be appreciated or should i just spend the money and get the bumble bee. Alex |

The pricing isn't bad on those 2 pieces preowned.
You may want to look here and on some other forums for sale sections as I've seen both up for sale lately from reputable members.
Good luck. I like both of your options. |

Make sure they are trusted sellers if choose to do so. Welcome to TRF. I'm sure Mike and Thomas and maybe some other more experienced members will be along shortly.

Welcome Alex! The Volcano and Bee are excellent pieces as are those prices. The most important thing when buying an AP is to make 100% certain the warranty is properly dated and stamped. If it's pretty new, you can register it online and ship to Clearwater FL (APCS) to extend the warranty to 3yrs.
I'll let me colleagues with Volcanos speak to that choice. I picked the Bee for a couple of reasons. 1) It has the awesome ceramic bezel which will resist scratches. As you may have heard/seen, the steel AP bezels are very susceptible to scratches. 2) The forged carbon case makes this the lightest ROO I've ever owned and therefore the most comfortable. My 6.5" wrist doesn't like the top heaviness of other ROO models like the RGRC (love the look though). That pretty much rules out the 44mm models. 3) I love the splash of yellow color against the black. 4) I've seen Volcanos and other ROOs in the wild but NEVER a Bee. The Bee is a little less flexible than the Volcano - no bracelet option - but I'm pretty happy with the hornback strap and Diver strap. Good luck with your decision and post some pics when you pick one! |

Agreed with Mike on this. If budget is never a consideration for you, go for Bee. Otherwise, I will say Volcano is pretty good too. With those prices, i think you will be alright.

Ceramic APs is the way to go if you have an active lifestyle and want to wear the watch 24/7.

Two fantastic looking references and IMO you can't go wrong with either one!
