Ademars Piguet movement in Chanel J12

I wonder if you AP experts know of the quality of the movement used in a Chanel J12 automatic. According to the Chanel brochure, AP movements are used in their watches.

Thanks for any help.

First, not all J12s use an AP movement---just this one, AFAIK: http://bit.ly/jkEU8m

That said, the movement in this particular Chanel watch is AP's well-known (and generally excellent) 3120 caliber. As you'll note after comparing it to other photos of the 3120--of which there are tons on the internet--there are a few cosmetic differences, principally the rotor design and the balance bridge, which is straight on the version for Chanel, versus curved for the standard AP production.

I believe the fundamental specs are the same: 60 hour power reserve, bi-directional winding, Gyromax-type freely sprung balance with flat hairspring, date display with rapid switch & adjustment capability, hacking seconds, 278 parts, etc. etc.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Adam for the info which definitely helps. It looks like the Chanel watch my wife is interested will not have the AP movement - she likes the white ceramic model with a MOP dial with diamond indexes. Any idea who makes the movement in this model?

Thanks, again

Very welcome!

As to their other watches, I would assume various movements (quartz or mechanical) produced by ETA (or possibly Sellita by now, due to Swatch Group now limiting ETA calibers to companies outside the SWATCH Group)
