Affordable Rolex service

Beggining of July 2012 Rob (skyman51) posted right here at TRF that while looking at the
"For Sale" section of our forum he came accross a steel Daytona recently sold and that
among the photos of this Ref: 16520 Rolex Daytona was an invoice from an independent
watchmaker who performed an $1800 service ?
http://rolexforums.com/showthread.ph...ighlight=16520

A few days earlier I had bought a steel Daytona 16520 black dial with nice patina, without papers -
in decent physical condition, but it was a watch that was never serviced. So I took it to the Rolex
factory service branch in Athens right before Rob's post and a few days ago I picked it up not knowing
how much would have been the cost....I had posted then $520 and I was wrong -
My cost was only $475.- (This price includes an immoral 23% sales tax).
I am happy I did take it there for a complete service
Three weeks later it came with a Rolex watch service warranty for two whole years -
similar to a new watch - also "papers" and an ID card, a Rolex invoice proof of what it costs
to service it and how much for parts, a complimentary travel pouch, a service booklet with
step by step analysis of what exactly Rolex did to my watch such as:

Rolex watch identification
Technical analysis
Disassembly,
Movement cleaning by totally dismantling each component
Replacement of identified worn parts supplied directly by the rolex headquarters in switzerlnd,
Lubrication and reassembly,
Timing calibrations,
Refinishing the case and bracelet,
Waterproof test,
Final quality control - and there they mentioned in their quality control report
a minute nick in the crystal at 2 o'clock which I did not replace (so insignificant)
anyway I have a spare new one which costs $250 if I ever decide to change it..

If you need to service your watch as well as identify your watch for "honesty" in case
there are no papers let me know - I will be happy to help.

Omega serviced my 2531.80 for $425.00. I brought it in and they noted that the mainspring broke.

$425 + taxes (13% GST) is $480.25.

I called Omega in Toronto and the cost for a basic overhaul for the 2594.52 (cal 3301), $685.00 CAD.

Includes crown, gasket, spring bars and the polishing.

Hi Tempo,

I travel quite a bit and have found Athens as the cheapest city so far for BNIB from ADs. This is a combination of good discounting (they're doing it relatively tough atm), weak euro and a full refund of the 23% VAT. Now it seems that their service prices are cheap as well. Sounds good to me and a good excuse for a trip to Greece when it's service time :)
