Best Polishing Cloth for a new Explorer I

I just bought an explorer 214270 and have had it for near a month and have noticed scratches starting to appear and was wondering if there is any cloth that you guys would recommend.

Thanks!

The scratches are normal and give character to the watch. Go with it; accept that scratches happen.

Besides, when it comes time for a service, your watch will look like new when you get it back.

I would leave polishing to the pros when you get it serviced. Or just leave the scratches where they are. Resistance is futile

If it is on the highly polished parts, and you MUST do it, many use the Cape Cod cloths. But you really need to take care and read some of the "how to's" here in the forum before doing it. You can ruin some of the matte finished areas.

If I decide to have my independent or rolex dealer give it some light attention every so often, how often should I perform it and how much should I ask they do?

I would like to preserve its originality but not so much that it is never touched.

Yes if you do use the Cape Cod cloths, be very very careful. To tell you how good they are, I turned an entire brushed case into a polished case on a project (non-Rolex) watch.

Polishing out scratches is more complex than it seems - (You're taking metal away - and it won't come back )

An old cotton T-shirt has a little abrasion which will get rid of tiny scratches but leave the bigger ones until service time.

It's not a good idea to polish the watch too many times. A watch is good for maybe 5 or 6 full polishes over its lifetime before the case starts to get worn down too much. Learn to love the scratches

Just bought a can of the Cape Cod cloths off Amazon. Wow! Cleaned up my 5 yr old TT subby back to like new! Cleaned up my Daytona, wife's DJ, and cleaned up some scratches off an LV belt.

Cape Cod Cloths, a Big Thumbs up!

IMHO many here use Cape Cod Cloths. I don't think they remove any amount of material to worry about. I don't worry about it. Rolex takes care of it every 6-7 years and they come back new.

Dont worry about a few normal scratches from everyday wearing thats a fact of wearing any watch.Just keep watch clean with just plain soap and water and as for cloth any cotton lint free cloth will do.Any surface scratches will be dealt with as part of normal routine service when watch will be return looking as good as new.
