Sure, but this was not my point.

I am referring to other threads where some say it is a fake but will not disclose why, while others can't make out any signs of the watch being fake.

In addition, often the pictures are so low res which makes it even harder.

For instance there was a thread where a GMTIIc was being questioned. The pictures were far from good quality but still some people said it was fake, while others like myself certainly could not tell from those pictures. I even compared to my own GMTIIc and could find no tell tale signs of it being dodgy. You would imagine that if one can tell it is fake from a low res/blurry picture, the faulty features must be obvious - i.e. not the position of the GMT hand vs. the other hands, or 2.5x magnifying or, fonts placement, serial on rehaut, etc.

A good point that in no way could help fakers. Yet, is helpful to people new to Rolex that want to learn.

The clue is in the story!

A student who is poor has a valueable resource but he wants to sell it cheap to you?

It is a classic swindle, offer the Mark a valuable item, for a cheap price and let his greed to make a easy profit at someones expense sell it to the Mark as a good deal..

This is the internet age there and many outlets that would offer him a fair good price..

Just walk away and never buy from anyone who tried to get you to take part in this deal, you are being played. In My Hummble Opinion....

Doesn't matter what they're selling, it's the con they're selling, it's a story. When people need cash fast they go to the pawn shop.

If it's too good to be true .....

Nobody ever sells a genuine Rolex for an 'extremely' cheap price unless it's a fake ... or it's stolen ...

I'd be wary of the "few hundred" it would take to get it off his hands. O_o
