Newbie question: do AD allow returns?

hi folks!
newbie in need of help...
do AD allow return at all?
I'm looking at getting a watch shipped and the AD would not allow any return , for any reason.
Seems a little crazy too me....


Looking fwd to hearing what you guys think / have experienced.

I'm believe they don't. But it is a good idea to go there in person try the watch on in case you don't like it. Then buy it.

Would you be happy paying what you're paying for a watch that was worn for a couple of weeks, then returned? Twice? By three customers?

I sure hope they're not accepting returns unless there's something horribly wrong with it.

If you're worried about it not functioning properly, it is covered by a warranty.

I think mine allowed 7 days, Tourneau in NYC. He was even willing to do an exchange after two weeks if I wanted with a new card and everything. I did not take him up on it though because I liked what I bought. Every store will probably be different though. But they should at least do store credit.

In fact, when I buy a rolex, I never remove the stickers from it for the first few uses so I If want to return it, it doesn't look used. When I am 100 % of the watch, the I remove it. It makes it easier for the AD to accept the watch back. I have returned a SS white dial daytona to get a black dial one with no problems

With my AD, no returns are accepted. All sales are final once you hand over the money. I'm happy with that policy, I would not want to be purchasing a watch someone else has returned. Also, once it leaves the store, there is no guarantee that the customer hasn't fiddled with the watch ie swapping out the movement etc and then returned it.

Exactly. if you're in the market to make the purchase to begin with this shouldn't be a concern with the warranty they give. No worries, this is as it should be.

Welcome to the forum.

Very similar to cars. Would most dealers let you buy a car, take it home, drive it around a few days, and then take it back? Very few, if any.

You test drive the car before you buy. You try the watch on in the store, and make sure you like it. You also try to make sure it's working properly. Mechanical issues that pop up afterwards are warranty issues.

I like walmart's liberal return policy. I also don't like it, when I'm buying, the item you buy might have been bought and used by 1 or more people. Return policies are a double edged sword.

Individual ADs probably vary but the point of no return (so to speak) is once the warranty card is filled in. Rolex will only ever produce one warranty card for each watch, they can't be replaced and once buyers details/ purchase date have been filled in, it can no longer be sold by an AD as brand new.

With that in mind, even when you are purchasing, ADs won't fill in the warranty card until all finanical transactions of the purchase are completed. If an AD fills out the warranty card and then the buyer pulls out at the last second before paying the AD is screwed..

There is no universal policy enforced by Rolex - smart ADs will hold onto the warranty card if they offer an approval period.

So it is a case-by-case situation. Ask your AD if you're not sure.
