Icon5 Daytona Question

Hello everybody!

The friend of mine has ss Daytona from the mid of 2006.
It looks nice (even scratched hard) but has the seconds scale on the left just like Daytona with El Primero movement. The the style of face (short thick marks) and clasp are new.

I haven't seen other Daytonas on this forum with non-central placement of seconds scale, so does he need to worry?

/I can post an image later if the description is not clear enough/

Welcome to TRF, Pavel!

If your - friend - has an SS Daytona with the continously running second's hand at the 9 o' clock position (= "Zenith" Daytona movt.) and the subsidiary dial having that second's hand is NOT perfectly centered to the hour marker at 9, then it is most probably a fake.

Also, the NEW bracelet (solid centre links, different clasp that has the "Easy Link" inside) does not belong on a "Zenith" Daytona.

If it is ostensibly NEW from mid 2006 with a serial number to match and has a seconds totaliser on the left, your friend definitely needs to worry. Sounds like a fake.

This will probably end up in the WatchOut section, but here is a nice article on the difference between the "Zenith" Daytona ref. 16520 (cal. 4030, produced from 1988 to 2000) and the new Daytona with in-house movt. cal. 4130 (introduced in 2000):
