just want to say hi and ask a question :)
hi guys,
i just picked up a LV sub today from BB. so in love with it and can't take it off. i'll post up the pics ASAP. but i have a few questions. 1) my serial number is printed on the rim below the 6o'clock marker. 2) there are also Rolex letters printed on the rim. 3) my hour markers are not that bright in the dark. can anyone educate me about these? TIA |

Welcome to TRF! and congrats on a great watch.
Here are some answers to help you along: 1. That's normal for the latest series of Rolex watches. 2. Ditto 3. The markers need to be 'charged' up under a light source. Normal exposure to daylight should do it, or 30 seconds under a bright lamp. The glow should last through the night, weakening as time goes by. Enjoy your watch and wear in good health! And please, post some pictures!! |

Lee: you beat me to the punch! I was scrolling madly through TRF posts here and all over the net to answer these questions correctly, as TRF prides itself on accurate info(one of the main reasons I wander through these posts). Anyway, Tia, WELCOME, and enjoy that new rolex! Check out JJ Irani's latest posts on his new LV Sub...I think everything Lee has said is right, but one thing's for sure, if he made a mistake, someone here will correct it as TRF has Tech-Geeks on Rolex from all over the world(some would say FANATICS!)

Welcome to TRF!
What you see on the chapter ring (or REHAUT as it is also called) is the CRB (Chapter Ring Branding), and this is perfectly normal on many Rolex watches today. The first model to get the CRB was the Datejust that got updated in 2004. Some sport's Rolex watches still don't have the CRB (the Sea-Dweller, for instance), but my guess is that ALL Rolex watches will get it, eventually. About the lume: Your SS Sub Date 16610LV has the socalled "Maxi Dial" (larger hands and hour markers) which has SuperLuminova as luminous material. SL needs "charging" before being able to glow, so if you give your watch a good charge with a flashlight before going to bed, you would get a perfectly glowing dial, probably all night.
