New here.. but is it fake?
Hey folks! new here, thought id give this a shot. My son came home last night, said he traded some of his car speakers for a Rolex watch! I said let me see it . Anyways, its a Chronographe antimagnetic, but it doesnt say antimagnetic anywhere on it. it does not have the serial numbers or anything in between those things that attach the wristband, you can hear it constantly ticking, not loud, but if you put your ear up to it.
came in a kinda grayish/silver box with the name Rolex on the cover of it, kinda looks like its printed funny. Without seeing it, does this sound fake? I seriously have my doubts its real. If i had more time id post pics of it, but i need to go to work, so i can later if that would help any. |

Welcome, photos would definitely assist in making any assessment.
I'm not confident about it being genuine given your son having traded some car speakers for it, but who knows |

Well first if its a chronograph it will have sub dials and two pushers one above the winding crown the other below it.The term Chronograph means simply its a watch with both timekeeping and stopwatch functions. And a Chronometer is a term thats used for all watches that have been tested and certified to meet certain precision standards, with institutes like the Swiss COSC -4 to + 6 seconds a day for mechanical watches .Now all genuine Rolex watches made in the last 40 odd years will have there serial number between lugs at the 6 O'Clock and model number at the 12 0clock position. antimagnetic ?. Think you mean automatic. Without seeing it, does this sound fake? .YES. seriously have my doubts its real. 100% correct. BTW. how do you post pics on hear? i can store my pics on photobucket. Picture posting guide link below. http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=1789 thanks.Your welcome.

Some fakes are better than others. Some have almost ALL signs of being the real deal, but as stated 99.99 % on it is wrong (I would say that only the Rolex crown is somewhat correct. Even the writing is wrong). There is no point in listing ALL of those signs telling that it is a fake. All I can say is that it is a very bad fake, possibly the worst I have seen, yet. Sorry about that, but I don't feel like pointing all those signs out here.

I gotta give your son credit! I think he made the right choice going for Rolex over car stereo speakers! :) Now he just needs a real one. |

Wow. That isn't even really an attempt to make it look like a legit Rolex. All that and a Gas Escape Valve. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad. Hope your son gets his speakers back.

I think what the guys are saying is that watch does not exist. You cam see flaking of the plating and Rolex would never do that quality. IMHO I agree your son jumped at the chance to get a Rolex over car speakers. It may be a start to a very rich begining into genuine Rolex ownership and collecting. We all started somewhere.

Not the worse fake ever, but dang close. Really everything is wrong with this watch, just take you son to a rolex dealer and look take this one with you. Compare it to the daytona and others, and the differences will be evident.
Most people just think Rolex is a status symbol and they have no idea that Rolex makes one heck of a watch. When most fakes like this one are compared side by side the differences are obvious to everyone. |

I like how it has the year. Rolex hasn't figured that one out yet. That has to be worth something.

More likely to find a mattress spring than a balance spring in that movement
I hope you manage to get the speakers back - maybe next time you'll get lucky with a real one
