This or that.. Or maybe this, or THAT!!??!

Hey guys so I think I've finalized some constants in my rotation:

PAM 000 - manual wind pisses me off, but its a love/hate thing and its so clean that i love it
EXPII Polar - my favourite watch ive owned, ever.
Tudor BB - On order, had it once, won't let it go again i don't think

Now I have an extra DJII blue roman and 116718 laying on my desk that I am on the fence of. I LOVEthe YG - but fear it may be too flash for day to day.

I've realized I dress mostly casual, and business casual (with jeans) at work and at play (most times shorts and sweats, jeans, etc.). So ultra dressy isnt for me.

Here are some choices:

1) Keep the YG GMT and DJII and be quiet
2) Flip watches in #1 for a PP 5167 Rubber
3) Flip the watches in #1 for a PP 5711 Blue Dial
4) Flip the DJII only and keep the GMT YG

Money isn't an issue going up or down, but the more I look at my collection the more I say to myself, "why have more than 3 watches that are not investment or collectable pieces?" With the current config, I have 5. I want to concentrate on quality over quantity. 4 is pushing it but I gotta chop at least one.

So what should I do?

And I can only say one thing to Brian and Manny when they see this - shut up, I tried to last a week before flipping :P

Considering what you have, I would flip the Pam and DJ II and get a nice Pam
Cheers

I considered every PAM model in the lineup regardless of price, and fell in love with the PAM000 when I tried it on. I love the 390SE, but couldnt see one in person and the gold hands arent as versatile.

I guess it is a "cheap" panerai, but I like it =D

If you like it, that's what counts, , second opinion. . I think it's nice to have a nice gold watch in a varied collection, so you could flip both gmt and DJ and get something else gold or rose gold ( I personally wouldn't go for what you suggested) but it is your choice of course
Cheers.

Flip for the 5711. You don't need 2 GMT watches in a small collection and looks like YG is not for you.

Funny the explorer second hand is not a GMT as such it was originally designed to show explorers whether it was day or night by having 24 hour hand

Well my current mood tells me I want a 5711 out of the ones you offer so here goes my vote!

Let me explain it better. In my opinion the 24hr hand isn't useful in real life. Both watches will be used to tell the time in a 2nd time zone (or even a 3rd with the IIc) so they seem redundant to me. I like having different complications in the watches that I own.

You are not wrong I travel a bit and it's nice to just glance and see ' hometime' without thinking about it. One SS , one gold.. One for day and one for night

Flip the DJII only, and keep the YG GMT. The GMT is definitely not too blingy. Blingy is something like a YG DD with diamond dial and fluted bezel on the president bracelet. THAT watch grabs your attention.

I'd sell the DJ2 and replace it with the 5711.

Thanks mike but its not about saving I just need to reduce the number of watches in rotation
I just don't wear more than 3 watches when I rotate
4 is pushing it :(

You may be right Mike.... but the PAM is nice too... maybe when I get the BB, itll take the PAM's place....

The REAL question is, is the azzuro blue in the DJ nicer than the blue in the 5711?

I need to see another in person
blast!

Yes I agree with Mike! That would be the perfect three watch collection!

Aye! Here we go again...

Will, the 718 is NOT an everyday watch! Truth be told Rolex may not be for you... Get into Patek and you may never look at anything else...

Why get the 5711 when you can get the 5712 or better? For me I am personally not a fan of the 5167, however, it does look great on other folks... In any event good luck!

Clear that the 718 is not for you and that is ok!

I think you need this and be done with this flipping business!

Thanks Sam!

I love the fatter hands and indices on your PP, but I like the dial really, really clean. I was looking at a 57261A, then my wife hit me in the head at 50k MSRP. lololol

But the 5711 just has a simple nature to it which I like. I love the gold of the GMT but it really comes down to I only have one spot and which should I do, the GMT or the 5711

The only constants I now see are the BB and the EXPII. Meaning I really want to pare down my collection to 3; and I only got one spot left.

Being realistic about what ill actually wear vs what ill admire in my safe sucks!

In that case, don't be like me (a hoarder of horology)... The 5711 is calling your name, just remember you WILL want to upgrade it once you own it... The 26/1A is a special Patek reference, however, for some reason I cannot warm up to white dial timepieces! It's very interesting seeing your progression to finding the right piece!

I did not vote because I feel you should flip all of your Rolex pieces for a power Patek reference... You and your Mrs. would be happy!
