Athens watch dealing cafe (every Saturday)
I can assure you I am not going to just fancy watch shows.
When I am in Athens I go every Saturday morning to a watch dealing cafe where most everyone there is a friend plus i get to see my 4-5 buddies that have a head maladie similar to mine... and with whom I go to lunch after our relaxing to some of us watch dealing. This Athens cafe has been a popular meeting place for anyone who wants to sell or buy an inexpensive watch - good place for collectors or flippers. I bought a Rolex ladies plastic date with a very nice black dial on a decent oyster bracelet for 480 dollars (very cheap if you ask me), then I paid the guy with the glasses 20 bucks to perform a service blessing... The same "blessing" service here in America will set you back around $450 ...so I feel I got me a super deal... There was a men's precision date on a strap offered to me by my buddy John for $450 but I declined.... Also there were available two magnificent watches also for sale, a very nice Jaeger Memovox tribute to Polaris for a very reasonable price of only $7800 dollars. http://watches.infoniac.com/jaeger-l...o-polaris.html and a Rolex President 118205 rose with a bronze wave/Arabic for only $11,500 The owner is my good buddy George and we are "talking"....nothing is final yet. Some old Omegas, a couple of must de Cartier, a new old stock Ferrari yellow Panerai, two explorer II, a few new and used Panerais 111, 104 and 164 etc. At around 13:00 we all go to the Marriott hotel nearby to have lunch. Marriott has a membership card for an annual fee of $300 and with that card two people can eat all they want for a small charge of about $13 per person..wow... Marriott would definately loose money here with this plan... So ya all enjoy the pictures from what it used to be a rich country but soon.. we shall rise again... My buddy John definately has boxes.! ...and a few watches... Stelios...is a famous Patek Collector The Jaeger My buddy George who owns the rose president and with whom I am negotiating with...such a good guy... These Iceberg loafers do they really cost 300 bucks..? An excellent bargain The 450 dollars Rolex precision date Dennis here is the guy that does a few quick services for me - He is Omega trained and most capable. I dont like that he smokes over the movements he services... We are all such good looking guys - dont you think ? |

Great report Big A.
Bring JB to the Marriot next time and they will have to shut down before he's even finished eating. |

Hey, that looks like a great time. I wish there were something like that going on near me. I bet that is a great bunch of guys to hang out with.
Thanks for sharing this. EDIT: If those Loafers are 300 bucks, I will just have to do without.
