Would price drop on 114060 Sub?
A couple of people have said on other threads to wait for the price of the 114060 to drop before buying, as the 14060 was not a great seller and think the same for this one. However I have never seen the price of a Rolex drop only go up, what are people's thoughts on this.

In the used market, yes, but only temporarily!
In the AD, it will only increase for a BNIB!

I think they are talking about pre owned or grey market. They might come down a bit like most other models but who knows for sure
Cheers

problem is that they are in limited supply in the uk at the moment. so I can't imagine the price will vary till that changes.

I figured that by the time the demand died down, Rolex would have another price increase, so I just bit the bullet and got one of the first ones that showed up in the San Diego area.

It'll probably be a while, like everyone says. Probably another year or two and you'll get some kind of discount on it considering Rolex doesn't announce another price hike.

I'm biased on this watch, but I don't think the price is going anywhere on this watch.
This new model is awesome. |

I'm hoping for a better supply to come around Nov-Dec and drive the grey market prices down a bit but if not by then, I am hopeful that prices will drop for a very short time right before the next price increase.

There's a Maxi case ND sub in the AD window in Helsinki. That's sort of showing it might be a slow seller...
Strange, I think it looks awesome. For comparison I've once seen a maxi sub date in the window.

The 114060 has been sitting in my local AD for months now collecting dust. My local has a few of them and they are not selling, and this AD is one of Rolex's top selling AD's in the country. IMHO, way to much money for a watch without even a date feature.

The other issue that will complicate things is Rolex reducing ADs margin on all watches - it just doesn't make sense for an AD to sell a steel sports watch with any meaningful discount, the profit just isn't there.

Well, there you have it OP, go to an AD in Arizona, and see what kind of a deal they can offer on these watches which are just collecting dust.

They're not "hard to come by", but right now they are limited since they are just coming on to the market, so your assessment that they are "collecting dust" by the truckloads doesn't make sense to me. In all the ADs I've been in recently, I've only seen one at Hamra. I'm pretty sure you're not the supreme knowledgable one about stock levels on a new model in Arizona. That's great you know an AD with many, but does that mean I'm wrong?? In my opinion, I don't think so. The model needs more time in market before we can make judgements. Not sure why you're set on slandering this model.... PS: I'm just debating with you. My intention is not to offend or create friction. Just letting you know cause sometimes words can be can misinterpreted. |

I would imagine the prices will stay around to where they are. If anything, it will go up as Rolex increase their prices from time to time. If you're going to buy, I would when the right deal comes to you in the NEAR FUTURE.
From my personal experience, I always end up selling a watch thinking I won't like it anymore. After a few months/year, I purchase the same watch right back for a little more and that is because of the price increases. Used markets will rise in time as well. I remember back one year, you could purchase a 116234 DJ for under 4500. You won't be able to find that now. |

Great thread! Has anyone done a measurement comparison between ceramic lugs vs. per-ceramic lugs?
