Why aren't Tudor watches available in the US?

I did a search and found this thread asking the same question. The thread is from Nov 09, almost three years ago.

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=101581

There was some discussion that Rolex may sell the Tudor brand again in "due time." Is that still the case? Or is Rolex worried about cannibalizing their own sales with buyers choosing a $4k - $5k Pelagos over an $8,500 Sub C?

They were available in the 90's here, as I have an old "Turdeau" catalog and Tudor's are clearly listed for sale.

Not sure why they have not resumed selling them.

I don't know but may be a marketing strategy. But my opinion only.

Swatch has assured Rolex there would be no interruption with their ability to purchase movements for the Tudor brand.

Tudor aren't available to UK AD's, at least not the one I work at, and according to the Tudor website there are no Tudor retailers, just a service centre.

Tudor's are freely available in Australia, there were several in the Hour Glass, my local AD. I wonder why they are available in some parts of the world and not others???

There are available in Kuwait, not much demand for them though. Not enough to even order a Pelagos or Black Bay :(

I do not travel much around the world, but I go to Aruba once a year. The Rolex AD I visit discontinued Tudor as of last year. It was a bit unfortunate with all of these new models coming out. I emailed them to price out a Heritage Chrono last year, and I heard the bad news.

as it stands, there still isn't a business case for rolex sa & rolex usa to announce a return to the usa. simple as that. that could change tomorrow but today, there isn't one.

just visit canada, they're in-stock.

I think it makes business sense to bring them back as the price of rolex keeps climbing, but it does not seem like rolex needs the money and the possible dimunition of the rolex name and parasitic sales might outweigh the benefits.

I really like my THC and the new watches seem quite nice as well.

Tudors are not available in the USA because for many years Tudor did not according to Rolex USA offer a significantly different and attractive model of watch that was worthy of spending big marketing dollars upon to get the desired return on investment.

However in recent years, we have seen what amounts to almost a reinvention of the Tudor brand with the likes of the Tudor Chrono Heritage , Black Bay and Pelagos.

So Rolex USA can see the new potential in this brand and are considering its re-introduction into the USA market.

That's my 'belief'. Take it for what it is worth
