Questions about owning and wearing my first Rolex...a Sub-C
I've been wearing a Sub Homage every day for the past 6 months trying to decide if I like the look and the comfort of a bracelet watch. The answer is YES. I'm dead set on getting a Sub-C in the very near future.
After wearing the homage every day for just 6 months it's pretty beat up. I've seen people recommended getting a G-Shock for 'extreme' stuff by I don't really do anything extreme. It's just my life with 3 kids and stuff. My main question is this: Do you guys just live with a scratched and scuffed up Sub or do you get it polished regularly or what? Thanks!!! |

Live with the scratches..shows it worldly adventures and speaks about your life in a subtle way. At the end of the day, it is a watch, wear and be thankful you are able to afford one in your life.

Scratches are "character", so my advice is to just live with them and have the watch polished at service time...

Small scratches are unavoidable. Keep in mind after a Rolex service it will return looking brand new.

Scratches happen. They don't bother me at all. When I send it to the rsc every 6-7 years the watches get polished then.

any watch that gets most of your wrist-time is going to get scratched. The scratches will come and go but the watch will stay with you.

No worries about scratches now. The first scratch hurts and then you stop caring. Good luck acquiring that sub

Just bought a BNIB 116613 TT Black from a trusted member here on TRF. I couldn't wear this watch to work without it getting scratched and abused, so I only wore it on the weekends. I missed wearing my Rolex during the week so began a search for a "daily wearer". I was able to find a 16613 "U" 1997 in great shape from another trusted TFR member. So now I have 2 of the same watches for different uses. I really love the TT Black so I have no regrets on buying another watch just like the one I have. Maybe I am old fashioned but I love that yellow gold. I have accepted that the older one is going to get beat up, and it feels nice to know I will have a pristine Rolex for weekends, and nights out. I know this is an added expense and not very practical, but it works for me. I was having the same scary thoughts as you.

Speaking from experience....if your being a quality father to 3 kids.....I would put it you in the 'extreme' category. I've lost count how many times I was happy i was wearing my Gshock when playing with the kids....yesterday was a lesson on how to climb a tree - LOL. |

I live with the scratches, they are "features" of the watch and give it character!

IMO don't ever get the watch polished. At this point I can recall days I wouldn't be able to otherwise when I look at my watch scratches.

Sounds like good advise. Is it possible to have the watch serviced by Rolex w/o having them polish/brush it out? I've heard they do this no matter your preference?

I plan on keeping the scratches and dents. as long as it doesn't affect the functionality, reading the time and passing pressure test.
it will stay as is with no polish.

Live with it, my DJII is 6 months and I've worn it every day. It still looks great.
