Is it SAFE -- Silica Gel Dehumidifier
Hi guys,
I just got this Silica Gel Dehumidifier for my safe. I'm planning to put it in the safe. I'm wondering if this Gel is safe for all of my watches in there? Thanks, JT

This one is kind of a pain to use, sorry! Silical Gel is inert, as far as I know. The problem with this one is once the crytals turn pink you have to re-juvenate it with heat, which means you have to turn on the oven and dry it out. This always pleased my wife.
The newer type can be plugged into a wall socket and heats the crystals until they dry. You can find two sizes for this, depending on the size of your safe. They work well and will dry out overnight. http://www.midwayusa.com/Product/599...-30-cubic-feet |

The silica gel itself is safe - it absorbs moisture versus releasing any chemical.
However, if you have watches on straps, I would say constant low humidity could dry the leather, alligator, crocodile more than a normal relative humidity would.
