Legitimate or not, it's certainly interesting...
If it is actually what it claims to be I think it is much more of a museum piece rather than a personal one. I guess the exception would be if it stayed in the family, but it sure doesn't appear to have done so. Really cool find! Thanks! |

For $1 million I would want it to be authenticated by Old Father Time in person!

The silver shield looks like it was made by someone with very shaky hands. My 4 year old could do better with some rounded point scissors...

Let's pack honey, I sold the house, the cars, and canceled the trust fund for the kids. But look at that cool watch I got on eBay......

I have a couple of problems with the listing.
#1 1908 was the year Hans Wilsdorf registered the Rolex tradename. #2 The Rolex Watch Company Ltd. was not established until 1915. #3 I don't have current access to the hallmark symbols, but I'd need to see the year and port of assay. Those on that eBay watch don't match 1908. Below is my 1908 Wilsdorf & Davis watch. The hallmarks are correct, as is the W&D caseback stamping:

Hans Wilsdorf is no longer here to give an opinion on this one so I`d guess it`s history will be largely unknown and worth far less than the listing.

What would happen if you needed the money refunded? Would they refund $6,666.66 three times without asking questions? I would hate to take that risk.
