The key is whether the seals are perfectly seating against the stem and tube. SO an annual pressure test is great diagnostic.

Some makers don't even build a screw-down function into their cases and still manage to stay waterproof down to 300m

Ha Ha ! I did NOT expect anybody to use "proper" engineering terms, even my terms may be wrong in French !

I just wanted to make the point that we should NOT trust that an unscrewed crown can hold liquids / water out of the watch.

So, always CHECK your valuable watch in order to protect it and avoid trouble
