Rolex Submariner F series

Does anyone have any idea what year is a F serial number beginning with 217XXX?

It's probably around 2004.

Hi and welcome to TRF.

F-series started Sept. 2003 so your watch (with that serial No.) should be around early 2004.

You can also narrow down the date range, by evaluating the clasp code.

Dont make much difference the Sub has not altered much since the introduction of the Cal 3135 in 1989.Just no lug holes SEL bracelet and a few very minor different style of fonts and thats it plus a different case date letter .

You do realize that this thread is almost 4 years old....

Anyhoooooo, there is no such thing as an "F series Sub".. Rolex does not actually make any "series" of watches...

They are simply talking about the serial number prefix. Rolex used to make serial numbers in batches that began with a letter and that letter can be used to approximate the year of manufacture within a couple of years either way..

Beyond that, Rolex has never made any changes or modifications to any watch based on a serial number..
