Rolex DID make some DJs that they put in the same case and President bracelet normally reserved for the DD. My father purchased one over 40 years ago, and when he passed away left it to me. The story at the time was that Rolex was out of stock on the DD but had this DJ and my father didn't want to wait for the DD so he bought the DJ. At least I know that mine is authentic as it has been back for service a number of times when my father had it, and also since I have had it.

At the time he purchased this watch, he paid what he felt was the outrageous price of $680.00 for it.
