Decision time again?
Ladies and Gents,
Sorry for posting another "what would you buy" thread, but here we go... Currently looking to buy one of the following... Rolex Sub C LV Rolex ExpII 42 mm white dial Cartier Calibre 42 mm white dial bracelet I already have the following... Rolex GMTIIc Rolex DJ 116234 white roman Rolex DJ 116234 black diamond Breitling Bentley GT white dial Bell and Ross BR01-94Yel LE Tough decision. I don't have a Cartier yet and it's their first in house movement. The Sub C LV would be my first green dial and def a classic Rolex model that I do not have one yet either. And the ExpII with it's slightly larger size and clean white dial. The Sub C LV would probably be best investment, but the other two wouldn't be far behind. And I'll go ahead and say "you should buy what you like best." With that said, which one would you get in my situation and why? Thanks in advance for all of your valuable inputs. I look fwd to seeing the responses as I'm sure I will learn even more about this addictive yet expensive hobby. |

Very nice collection sir, IMO you should go with either the LV or the Calibre. You've already got 1 GMT complication and while the ExpII is an incredible piece and very different, I think you should go another direction. While I'm not a big Cartier guy personally, I can definitely see why they are popular timepieces. If I were in your shoes, I'd go LV. It would be your first Sub and the new ceramic is unreal. With your current collection, you need some color!
Good luck!

If I wer you.. Ill go Verde, 40mm just the right size for me. Try to narrow it down to two, then it will be much easier to decide. Ask yourself questions like, which one I can leave without. But for me no question sub lv

I almost bought a SubC LN date AND a Cartier Caliber (white dial, black strap) at the same time; instead, I opted for the two-tone sub LN with serti dial.
Add a Cartier to the collection. The "partial" roman numerial dial is just gorgeous. |

you don't have a sub yet and the LVc is awesome. the explorer ii is nice, but, i prefer it in black and, anyway, the bezel scratches would drive me crazy. good luck with the choice!
here are a few examples of the many faces of the LVc: |

If you want a classic LV, then it'd has to be the 16610LV.

Rolex ExpII 42 mm white dial
A SubC would be similar size and feel as your GMTIIc, so I voted for the ExpII |

Thanks for the input gents and great pics! I'm leaning toward the subclv or calibre. Maybe I get the subclv first b/c of the crazy Rolex price increases and then the calibre later? I usually go grey market, but I see some of the high content sellers on here are reasonable as well. Maybe I buy from a TRF member this time? Either way, I'll post pics when the decision is made and deal is right ($8k or less for NIB). Thanks again!

Well, the decision was made......SubcLV. I really appreciate everyone's input. I figured I needed a sub and some color to add to collection before they get out of my price range. Should get it tomorrow from Davidsw right here on TRF! So excited and thus far David has provided a great purchasing experience! Wrist shot to soon follow.
I'll have to wait on the Cartier Calibre White dial bracelet. Maybe next Christmas? :) Thanks again, Blake |

For your collection the Sub LV, pictures doesn't do it justice. Looking at the catalog I wasn't attracted to it until my AD pulled it out of the vault to show and then had to have it. But the EX II is a beauty also, so you can't go wrong with either

I'm a huge fan of Cartier design, but I just cannot get my head around the Cartier Caliber. I've tried to like it but I just can't. The date makes no sense to me. The huge Roman numerals have no place in my opinion. No comparison to a Ballon Bleu or Roadster in my opinion. Too bad they choose to put their first caliber in this thing. For Cartier I would have suggested the new Tank Anglaise. |
