Do AD's ever have sales?

Hello,

Just wondering if any AD's ever put their Rolex selections on sale?

Thanks,

John

I've never seen one. Discounts can be had at times though. Depends on the model

From all the ADs i've talked to they constantly stress that Rolex has a firm grasp on all their pricing and would be in danger of losing their AD status if they were caught doing sales. Sometimes there are exceptions. For example my AD had not updated their price tags the week after Rolex's price increases occurred and I was quoted the old price. The manager said he would honor the quote if I paid in cash and did not finance the watch, which I did and saved ~$600. You could also ask about Rolex's that have had "display wear" and you might save some bucks on those.

Older models of oyster perpetuals and air kings that are being discontinued are usually discounted as well.

Yes, ADs do in fact have sales. Many times they are 'special events' for good customers, other times you will learn it by asking the jeweler at time of perusing the cases.

They will never place a sign in the store announcing it, as that violates Rolex policy.

The older models can have a "purple" sticker of 25% off. This is a corporate decision. I've seen it on air kings and date just models.

Rolex won't allow it. They will offer financing discounts if they offer it.

Yup. Stainless Steel Subs, Daytonas and GMTIICs half off.

Plenty of slow-moving Dates, Date Justs and Air Kings with funky dials tho...

I have seen them discounted on going out of business sales. And they went flying out the door.

My old AD back in the States had one once. An advertised sale. 30% off. Picked up a new TT Blue Dial YM and a WG Bezel Diamond Dial (black) DJ. They went out of business perhaps (don't know if this is true or not) because they may have lost thier AD status. Such a shame. This may have been part of the reason that Rolex cut their line.

Thank God for greys here in Japan and trusted TRF sellers. The new boutique format Rolex is going with will never work for me in buying a new Rolex.

"Display wear"? One of the 15 stickers was removed, how much of a discount would that be worth?

I have seen it done, usually on pieces that are not selling in the first place

I've never seen any 'sale' signs in a Rolex AD. I wouldn't expect to either as it's Rolex not Fossil. I think you just need to educate yourself and do your research as to what is a reasonable price point for the piece you are looking to purchase. Go in with that knowledge and shop around to get a fair deal. As always I do always try to buy local if at all possible.
