New vs. Near New 116610LN

I am looking for either a new-in-box or near new Rolex 116610LN, and I wanted to ask if people think it is worth the time and effort trying to find a mint used watch.

No, you'll get stratches right away from wearing it yourself.

If it's important to you then, yes.
Me, I'd settle for lightly used, not beaten, unless my intent was to use it as a beater. A few scratches, no big deal. Easier to find, and will be less expensive to acquire.
actually...a nib 116610LN will be super easy to find. I was thinking 116610 intitially

When I bought mine, I could not find a used one. Only choice at that time was new.

Going from what Chris said, I've had my Hulk for less than a week and I already have a couple thin little scratches on my glidelock clasp and I got mine brand new with stickers on it. Lightly used may be the better option in terms of what's available on the TRF classifieds and price.

Really individual preference. My wife insist on not getting anything pre-owned, while I am fine with it, as long as condition is mint, price is reasonable and if there is still existing warrant, it will just sweeten the deal. To a "watch" person, I would say, get pre-owned if u can have saving off the price you will paid for brand new. Moroever, there is always a chance you will get flip the watch, in that case, you can reduce you loss.

I wear my watch every day doing just about everything. So I guess that means I'm going to scratch it.

I bought my LN new just to say I bought a new Rolex for once in my life. I think it will be my last new one. I could settle for a nice used one and pocket some cash!

You can get one here ranging from $6800 up to $7500-8000 without tax. A brand new one will run you $8500+ tax. If you got the cash and want the brand new experience, go new. If you want to save a couple bucks, look in the FS section.

There's no single correct answer. Individual preferences hold sway.

For some, the thrill of the chase is one of the most satisfying aspects of buying a watch, in addition to the money saved.

For others, only brand new will do, for whatever reason.

Prior to purchasing my sub, I would not have even considered buying LNIB. Armed with more knowledge, now I would definitely explore that option.

I literally just got an awesome deal right here on TRF for a flawless, but not BNIB w/ stickers. Literally just made the deal.

As much as BNIB w/ stickers is obviously what we desire, you can save a ton of coin getting one that is truly MINT....

I'd prefer to save the extra G for my next purchase ; )

If you have concerns then just go new.
No worries or second thoughts wondering if you should have bought new the first time around.

I believe it's a matter of personal preference. I would hands down go for a lightly used specimen bought from a bombproof dealer.

Think of it differently: Saving 1,000 USD on a lightly used 116,610 (let's say one year) is like being paid 86 USD / month for a year for doing nothing, and your BNIB watch is anyway going to look the same in a matter of months.....

But I can understand some of us prefer the peace of mind and uniqueness of buying BNIB, peeling the plastics off, etc, etc, etc.

I am pretty sure you can find a new one for $7500 out of state and have it shipped to you to save taxes.. This is what you do.. You go the a close out of state ad and tell the, you where about to pull the trigger on a sub from a local dealer for say $7000 but they charged tax so if they can match the deal and ship to you then they have a deal.. They will probably say "I can,t do 7k but I can do $7500 and ship to you to save on the taxes"
I did this with both my watches and it worked.. Make sure you are ready to do the deal and call then before you take the drive to make sure they have one in stock..

To me, it is completely price dependent.

That is a great strategy if it works! I've been in contact with 2-3 local AD's and they weren't able to budge one penny on the SS models...

So, that led me here, to TRF. Thank god for overnight shipping!

Depends on the cost savings. If it's not much of a spread, I'd go BNIB.

Happy Hunting!
