Why didn't you just buy it online here and have it the next day at a better price from proven dealers??
we live and learn...and i did not think clearly....its like when a man says "I do" at the wedding alter and a year later it backfires...i learned my lesson..

If he calls you I think I would say something more along the lines of that you were promised a watch by a certain date, the date kept moving, you got tired of waiting and decided to take your business elsewhere.

Well, you live and learn. You were fortunate to get all your money back. You now have some more knowlege of how not to buy a watch! Hopefully your next watch buying experience will go much smoother.

x2. With cash, I'd look here for a watch before I'd go to ANY store.

You think he lied to you — probably, he did. You've got your money back and he's still getting the watch in for you not knowing that you've got no intention of buying it. I would call him now and tell him exactly and honestly how you feel. Otherwise (if you lie to him or let him get the watch in for you unnecessarily) you've descended to his level. JMO

guy.. I've read your posts here and you sound like a very nervous person.. no offense :-) .. if the 3k is such a big deal, then buy safely somewhere or postpone till you dont have to be nervous abt it.. trust your gut a bit and not ask the forum what you should do or say to the guy.. you're an adult right? why do you worry so much?

Common sense.. dont pay deposits for what you havent seen yet (why does he need it anyway if he says he'll give it back to you if you dont like it) check wheter a price is reasonable before you go into a shop (check chrono24.com) and buy without emotion (and in your case caffeine..)

good luck watch shopping

Rolex, buy at AD if new, here in TRF if used. Simple.

If you are trying to get a deal or cut corners may be it is not the right time. It is ok to wait to buy the best time peace in the world.

I gladly paid MSRP at the AD for mine and I am happy and never worried.

Cheers,
ZR

Same with luxury restaurants the food might be delicious but if the service is poor it can ruin the whole experience... tho personally I love it when they mess up and I get my meals for free

Eric, buddy your way over thinking this. Do yourself a favor. First don't lie. Second if he calls thank him for the call and tell him you've decided against purchasing the watch. End of story, no more to say, no further explanation required, no excuses required, no reason why, nothing more to discuss, you just don't want to buy it at this time, thank you ........ got it!

give a bit longer, but then give him a last deadline date of a few more days, if he does not then push his supplier for delivery, then say i want a refund if its not here by this date

Personally, IMHO, just tll him it is unfortunate that he could not get the watch within the time limit he promised and you would like your deposit back. If he says anything else about it moving, just say, I'd like my deposit back. If thevwtch is here within a week, call me. I'll come back with my cash. If not, I am going to start looking again.
