I'm surprised you ask about the South. Safe place, unless you feel adventurous, as everywhere else in the world. Courteous people, good beer and pretty and classy ladies. Cheapest ski in the region. I don't fancy their dog dishes, though. Too cold in winter. |

I am currently living in SE Asia and have traveled to most countries in the region. The only places I would watch myself with a high end watch is Manila and Jacarta, other than that just watch your surroundings and don't flaunt your stuff and you will be fine.

I'm Korean and have lived in DC, London, Tokyo and Singapore.
Wearing a Rolex in Seoul is not a problem at all. |

I think that being in Seoul, your concern shouldn't lie somuch with what danger may lie in the city, but more with what might land ON the city.

I live in Bangkok and I think it is a very safe city. Violent crime is not as common as western cities so it would be very uncommon to be mugged for example. That said, a scam or leaving it in your room to be stolen would be far more likely if it was to go missing.
I have also been to Seoul and felt very safe walking around the city. Common sense should prevail. You will know if a place or area doesn't feel right and won't stick around. |

some places in Korea you are underdressed unless you have a Rolex on.
