Tudor Fastrider Chrono Mini Review
TUDOR FASTRIDER CHRONO
Initially I was looking for a GMT watch which upon some research took me to Tudor Heritage Chrono which I like but unable deal with the chrono module issue that somehow bothers me. Then it became a hunt for a Tudor ... that eventually led me to this ‘real’ chrono watch, Tudor Fastrider, a model that has some kind of partnership with Ducati motorcycles. For some reason I was attracted to the brand with its newly released models in the last couple of years. I thought I'd like to share my new find through a review which is the first time for me. Specification: Model ref: 42000 Diameter: 42 mm Thickness: approx 14mm Lug width: 24 mm Glass: sapphire, glareproofed on underside Case & bracelet: stainless steel Water resistance: 150 m Movement: automatic ETA 7753 Power reserve: 46 hours (factory claim) Quick date set button on the side at 9 o’clock Build Quality & Fit Excellent build quality and details. Even though the watch is on the heavier side (slightly heavier than my Omega PO), it wears and balances comfortably on the wrist. I particularly like the clasp ie. solid, well-designed and does have micro adjustment holes enabling a perfect fit. The bracelet curves around and hugs the wrist nicely. Chrono pushers click firmly, crown is big and sturdy, time setting is firm with very little play. Looks It has prominent wrist presence and wears bigger than my other 42-mm’s (as shown on side-to-side vs Omega PO picture). Looks bold, big and sporty. Feels hefty and oozes quality. The case design has nice details, its sides mirror polished. I think the 24mm lug width adds prominence and heft too (the bracelet width tapers to 20mm at the clasp). The white dial version (with black subdials) IMO has more visual depth/dimensions and better time readability vs the black dial version (which comes also with black subdials). The dial design is cohesive, its ornaments are of quality giving you appealing impressions in different viewing angles, markings on subdials are silver. The hour and minute hands and Arabic number appliqués are mirror-polished metal, not sure if they are rhodium plated or not. Chrono pushers and crown shapes are reminiscent of automobile engine cylinders and pistons, not that it matters to me personally but just needs mentioning. Lume is certainly not a strong point here, a small square at every hour and half of hour and minute hands are applied with luminous paint. Movements The fact it uses a well-tested-and-proven integrated chrono movement, ETA 7753 (with the newer tri-compax sub-dial layout), is no small factor in deciding this purchase. I have a Breitling Chronomat with an ETA 7750 inside for more than 10 years now and am happy with it. Having owned for two days, it is +6sec/day and +10sec/day, not as impressive as my +1sec/day PO or Chronomat, but will monitor for a longer span of time to see what it settles to. Thank you for reading. YT |

It must be a "real" chronograph, it says so on the dial. Sorry, as a proud Heritage owner I couldn't let that one go.
Very nice review of a great looking watch. Tudor has come a long way, baby! dP

Very nice. I plan on getting one myself. I don't think the watch you have has a partnership with Ducati. There's a special red ducati edition.

That is a real 'chronograph'. HAHA. It reminds me about the PN Daytona though with modern twist. The only thing I wish to change is to set the date using the crown IMO.

I am pleased to report that in one week it is +5sec/day, still within COSC.

This looks like another winner. I like the new case design as well, very modern in shape and execution.
