anyone every us Blowers Jewellers out of the UK?
Hey all I was just curious if anyone has had any experiences with Blowers Jewellers in the UK? They have a particular watch that I'm looking for for my wife, a 18k/TT Yachtmaster with white MOP and diamond/sapphire dial. It is IMPOSSIBLE to find it here in the states and definetly not from an AD here locally or in surrouding states. I'm kind of hesitant of buying from overseas especially not being to see the watch in hand. Any comments or suggestions would be great!
Thanks |

Welcome to TRF!
I haven't dealt with Blowers Jewellers, but they are known to be good sellers! Good luck!

Yes I have bought from Blowers Jewellers in the past and they do have some very nice watches from time to time but they can be a little bit expensive.
Not sure if the'd ship to the USA though due to US customs..... no harm in asking I suppose. - Neil.

I'd agree with the good reputation but slightly OTT prices for Blowers and would definitely check the situation with customs.
Could be too great a risk of getting the watch impounded.

Blowers UK...........
I bought a SS sub from them three weeks ago. Found them courteous and professional.
Do not personally think they are overly pricey when compared with an AD. Although they sell over the web they are a "bricks and mortar" operation and have a retail jewellers in Hull, (North Yorkshire, UK.) I bought my sub from them because I find the atmosphere in my local AD uncomfortable even though I bought my blue TT sub fom the AD in question. If in doubt call and ask to speak to Mark Blower. |

it is my understanding customs/Rolex would have real issues with you importing a new Rolex. the same piece should be available worldwide to order through any authorised distributer

I agree with Neil and Steve. Be very carefull about getting a watch overseas. I'm aware of two collectors that had their watches seized by customs.
Some UK dealers won't even try it. |

I spoke to Blowers prior to buying, but having the AD local was enoughg for me. Cutoms would seize and all will be lost.

I have used them before to buy a gold daytona and have found them really great.

As i understand it Blowers only deal in used.
Would this make a difference to US customs? |

With the poor exchange value of the USD vs. Pound sterling (over $2 to the pound now) I would imagine UK pricing would be extremely high. I bet alot of British and Europeans come on Christmas shopping trips to the US to pick up some great deals. For some reason Rolex watches seem to be the only thing that has trouble getting through US customs (I guess the agents really like Rolex themselves).

thanks for all the replies! is there a way if they were to ship to the US, to set it up so it wouldn't be questioned through customs? as far as the prices, the watch I was interested in for my wife, a 18K/TT Yachtmaster with white MOP/diamond/sapphire dial is WAY cheaper at Blowers than anywhere I found in the US. Even with the exchange rate, it's almost $5500 cheaper. Is it still not worth the risk with customs for that kind of savings??
