^^Rolex was late to the big case party. Historically, they are slow to change, and I think they are still growing into their new identity as a purveyor of "luxe" jewelry items. Besides, you are quoting the part of my post that was in jest, Mr Oh-So-Serious.

42 to 44 would sell big time in my opinion. Sorry larger watches aren't a fad, there is plenty of space in the watch world for both. I'd say the younger generation doesn't think of 42 to 44 as "large" but rather "normal".

I think they need to go with a beefier model. I love the Panerai Luminor 48mm! THat will be my next purchase someday.... 40mm and under seem to Dainty for a real man..HA

I think, is only a question of wrist´s size. For me too small .For long time i loved the submariner looks ,but my wrist is big and all 40mm watches looks ridiculous on me.When the Deep Sea appears ,i thought: Now ,yes is my Rolex and it became in my every day watch.

I believe that not only wrist size come into play but also wrist shape. I have a 7 inch wrist that is kind of flat on the top, the 40mm suits me perfectly.

i think the Sub (including 116610) is perfectly sized. For those who want something bigger, the DSSD is available. Keep the classic a classic size.

I don't think it is too small but think it would look nice at the Explorer II size of 42 mm.

Not at all. I even think the new subC is too big; I prefer the older model subs (6.5-6.75 wrist, btw)

Too small? Maybe for someone with 12" wrists.

The sub has been perfect for the last 50 plus years ... so what happened suddenly? People suddenly started growing their wrists?
I was into the bigger is better fad and then realized that SUB and Seadwellers are just beautifully and perfectly made.... they might not get the same attention as a monsterous Invicta but quality wise, fit wise, looks wise, they are unbeatable .and set the bar... |

Going into Costco a few days ago, one guy was fixated on my left wrist. Perfect size, I guess.

Personally I think it looks good as-is, however my wrists are not huge. There is always the DSSD if you want a much bigger watch in a similar style.

IMHO they got the sub just right as it is up to now. Make it a lot bigger and it'll just look like a huge "fashion" watch you can get anywhere....

For the Sub I think 40 mm is just right.
I have a 44 mm Steelfish and a 46.5 mm Zenith. They all wear differently. The 44mm Steelfish and the 46.5 mm Zenith do no feal "large". But, I think a 44 mm Sub would. They are different watches and cannot be compared by size.

Personally I think 40mm is generally too small for a mans sports watch and it appears that most manufacturers feel the same way. Even Rolex are recognizing this.
